Soil is Everything

Soil is everything when it comes to repairing the Earth’s ecosystems, bringing back biodiversity, cleaning our water supply, and overcoming climate change. My guest on this episode, Pete VanDyck is a bit of a soil enthusiast and makes his living building out permaculture and regenerative agriculture projects and educating others on how to do the same.

Topic Tuesday: Cradle to Cradle

Topic Tuesday is back! This is a video series I started on Instagram (@philthefixer) that focuses on a new topic of sustainability in the built environment each Tuesday. This week I am sharing with you an episode on Cradle to Cradle, which is a biomimetic approach to the design of products and systems that models human industry on nature’s processes viewing materials as nutrients circulating in healthy, safe metabolisms.

Meat the Future

We finally did it… An episode about veganism.  Isaac Mogannam of PLOW distribution and I conversed about why we chose to go plant-based, how it changed our perspective on life, and how he turned it into a career. Isaac has an amazingly inspirational story that made this conversation even more impactful for me and hopefully you as well. Definitely go check out his Austin food trucks; PLOW Burger & PLOWBQ for some amazing plant-based meat delicacies!

Looking to Nature for Solutions

Biomimicry is the design and production of materials, structures, and systems that are modeled on biological entities and processes. On this episode I spoke with biomimicry specialist, Kathy Zarsky about how nature is not only a place to escape to, to improve mental health and well-being, but also holds blueprints for how to design our society.
